When you suffer from certain orthopedic problems, such as, bursitis of the shoulder, or a tennis elbow, the selected treatment can be an a injection with anti-inflammatories. Doctor Verstappen specializes in providing this kind of "orthopedic" injections.

A resting electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) is a recording of the electrical activity of the heart using electrodes placed on the skin while you at rest and provides information about heart rhythm disorders, possible damage to the heart or a possible thickening of the heart muscle.

Exercise EKG is a recording of the electrical activity of the heart during exercise (cycle test) and provides information about heart rhythm disorders and possible lack of oxygen to the heart muscle during exercise.

During an exercise EKG, it is also possible to measure the blood pressure during exercise.

The practice has a 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitor. With this meter the blood pressure can be measured for 24 hours, so day and night. This is the most reliable method for measuring the blood pressure.

The blood pressure changes during the day. For example, blood pressure rises during physical exercise and strong emotions and often drops when you get up (to) quickly.

The 24-hour blood pressure measurement gives a complete picture of your blood pressure during the day, at night and during your daily activities and is therefore more reliable than a single measurement at the practice.

The ambulatory blood pressure monitor consists of a cuff and a small measuring device. The cuff is attached to the upper arm and connected to the measuring device. The measuring device is worn on a belt. The blood pressure is measured automatic: cuff inflates and deflates itself.

Dr Verstappen determines how often blood pressure is measured. For most people during the day 2 to 3 times per hour and at night 2 times per hour.

The blood pressure monitor automatically stores the blood pressure values and the data wll be downloaded at the practice .

Finally Dr Verstappen will discusse the results of the investigation during a new appointment.

Almost all common laboratory investigations (blood, urine and stool tests) can be done in practice.

There is no need to make an appointment for laboratory investigations.You can just walk to the laboratory in practice.

The laboratory is open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM.

The blood glucose value can be checked by the assistant, in practice, by means of a finger prick.

This test is particularly important to determine whether you have diabetes.

If a more detailed analysis is required, you will be referred for a blood test to the laboratory.

Verstappen doctor can do a cognitive function test on request.

This is a screening test for the exclusion of, among other dementias.

The purpose of the Doppler examination is to examine the blood flow in the vessels, arteries or veins.

The flu vaccination reduces the chance of getting the "real" flu.

Influenza can have serious consequences.for people with specific medical conditions (such as diabetes, cardiac and pulmonary diseases) and for people aged 60 and older.

If you belong to this group, you will receive an annual invitation for the annual flu vaccination.

Preventive physical examination is aimed at mapping out the health status of a person and has a number of goals; health monitoring, measurement of cardiovascular fitness, disease prevention and counseling.

The preventive physical examination is important in order to detect health risk factors in an early stage, but also to prevent them.

An IUD is a very reliable method of contraception.

You can practice a Pap smear. Every woman from 30 to 60 years will receive every five years an invitation to make a smear.

A Pap test can detect early cervical cancer.
